MARK GREENWOOD
White Mice, All Colours CD (onec004CD) x 2 CD's, 20 PP Booklet. Limited x 100
SOLD OUT Release Date: 17th May 2010

"The new release from the laudable onec label is a two disc, experimental package from Mark Greenwood, a man
whose streaming prose, delivered in an unforgiving North East accent, is as perpetually perplexing as it is pleasing. ‘White
Mice, All Colours’ features 19 pieces of cryptic, absurdist and esoteric concoctions recited slowly, fragmented, with
resignation or under duress; set to an array of analogue drones and tones. Exploring the darker sides of identity, chance
and otherness, there are snippets of coded insight here that reveal a healthy and brilliantly skewered mind at work, although
lines like “200 collated foreskins dangle from the arm” take some getting used to." 247 Magazine
THE ROOFTOP GAMBLER Turned Out The Light
10" EP (onec/upr001EP) 4 Song Yellow Vinyl. Limited x 300 Release Date: 1st February 2010

" These four songs take their time to reel you in but never fail to
impress with their incrediable melodic focus and wistful dreaminess. Final track 'Leaning Tree' in particular wraps
things up in a tight little package, its choruses providing the country-tinged sucker punch to this surprisingly knockout
debut effort." Rock-A-Rolla Issue 24
"Four track ten incher on heavyweight
lemon yellow vinyl, a proper record, a proper release, something to grab hold of (nice artwork, work of Clare Owen). They’re
from Plymouth, a refined alt.country sound, wistful stories, a sense of loungecore, a touch of Americana, a hint of Echo And
The Bunnymen in there - well if the Bunnymen had done it all loose, raw and slightly lo-fi with a Sebadoh/Albini, or maybe
more solo Lou Barlow, edge - nothing like those Bunnymen there really then but there is something in the phrasing, the songs
– in the songs rather than the sound of those songs. Four good songs, nice package, nice to see/feel/handle/play...
Fine fine single, and they saved their best song ‘till last, track four, Leaning Tree." Organ Magazine (full
review here)
"Turned Out the Light is four songs of delicate yet confident post-punk introspection, the likes
of which you rarely hear British bands exploring. A must have, must listen." 247 Magazine
"This four-track EP packs a
mighty yet fragile post-punk punch. The first release of 2010 to truly inspire and excite. 'Turned Out The Light'
is the sound of freedom, adventure and discovery. Awesome on record, awesome on stage." The Fly
NEIL ROSE Wilbur
Whateley / Psychopomps 12" LP (onec003LP) Gatefold Sleeve, Printed Inner, 180gm Black
Vinyl. Limited x 250. Release Date: 26th October 2009

"Neil Rose, a Plymouth-based avant-gardener,
has produced a debut album inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, a premise that could so easily fall into an abyss of
pretention and boredom. Thankfully, that's not the case. Rose's voice is muzzled by distortion, forcing the listener
to lean in and listen to his expansive soliloquies more intently, whilst the music is a glitchy haze of muffled kick drums
and abstract hisses. Whilst, save the odd moment, it's hardly a danceable album, its appeal lies in its eerie imitation
of the sounds of everyday life. A quietly arresting experience." Rock-A-Rolla Issue 23
“Handsomely produced in a limited run of 250 in a sturdy
gatefold on Plymouth-based onec records, this is the work of local "sonic artist, lecturer, film and trouble maker"
Neil Rose. He describes it as a concept album based on the work of H.P. Lovecraft, whose Necronomicon, a book namechecked
in several of his short stories and novels, seems to have exerted a strange fascination over a whole generation of alt.musicians,
John Zorn being among the latest”. Paris Transatlantic (Full review here)
"Neil Rose's
debut album maintains a core feeling of oppression and unease layered with moments of bliss, skillfully achieved through doom laden, minimalist sound and creeping drones." TAPC
"The gathering energy of Yog Sothoth hit me the hardest, and it was the oncoming need to dance that I found devastating-if
Tolkien's Belroc was a DJ, he'd play this. Dunwich is the most challenging track, I felt like I was being beaten around
the head with a bit of two by two, followed by a bit of whipping and a quick strangulation." Dan Sidey

DR AKE Stonehouse Dreams CD (onec002CD)
6 Song 4 Panel Digipack CD. Limited x 200 SOLD
OUT Release Date: 16th April 2009
"Musically we have half a dozen drunken, no wave shanties, like The Fall playing in an abandoned
seaside bingo hall. North Face is Captain Beefheart by way of Squeeze!" Die Shellsuit,
Die
"‘Stonehouse Dreams’ is the point where sea shanty meets indie
abstraction and – as is often said about bands that inevitably do – doesn’t sound like anything else. Apart
from a bit of XTC, maybe, but they’re long gone." 247 Magazine
SONGS
FROM THE DOGWATCH LP (onec001LP) 10 Track Plymouth Band Compilation, Gatefold Sleeve,
180gm Blue Coloured Vinyl. Limited x 500 Release Date: 9th December 2008
"Plymouth
music/arts organisers, onec, in conjunction with Plymouth Music Collective and commissioned by Plymouth Arts Centre have produced
'Songs From The Dogwatch', a curiously delightful compilation of sea songs from a broad cross-section of Plymouth
artists. Including covers and originals all with a nautical theme, the likes of Wille & The Bandits, Head Of Programmes,
Vince Lee, Dharma Bums, Lemanis, Consolation Prizefighter and Dr Ake deliver interesting and oft startling vignettes, but
it is Cosmo Jarvis' ebullient 'Waiting On The Hill' that strikes the deepest." 247
